Michael Gervais CR CGR CAPS, President

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Technical Education from the University Of Vermont in 1979, Michael went to work for Farrell Construction where he progressed from laborer to Project Manager in a two-year span. He started Casey Construction in 1981 and grew that company into a multi-million dollar commercial contracting company. Also during the 1980’s Michael served three terms on Burlington’s Board of Building Permits and Inspections, and one year on the Housing Board of Review. He served on the Board of Directors for the Burlington Youth Employment Program and is an active member on the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together Greater Burlington where he was president from 2003 until 2006. Michael has been an instructor for local adult education programs and is a certified instructor for the National Association of Homebuilders and Remodelers, teaching courses around the east coast. 

In 1990 Michael began Prime Construction Company. In 1998 he earned the Certified Remodeler (CR) designation from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).  In 2001 Michael earned the Certified Graduate Remodeler designation from the National Association of Home Builders and Remodelers and in 2002 he received his Certified Aging in place designation from the HBRA and AARP. Michael was instrumental in the formation of the local Remodelers Council where he has served as President.  He is currently President of the HBRA.  Along with Prime Construction Company, now known as Prime Renovation Group, Michael also owns DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen of Vermont. He has 3 children and resides in South Burlington, where he enjoys basketball, hockey, skiing and boating on the lake.

 

Rebecca Johnston, General Manager

Born and raised in Pittsford, Vermont and being raised with a Master Electrician for a father along with various uncles and relatives in the Construction/Remodeling fields; Rebecca was destined to work in this great industry. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College in 1999, Rebecca went to work as a licensed Physical Therapist for a couple of years. In 2001 she decided to move to Connecticut and worked in a number of different professional fields including: Physical Therapy, Insurance, Management, Recruiting, Human Resources and Customer Service during her 5 year CT residency but always missed her home state of Vermont. In 2005 Rebecca made her way back to Vermont and found a new home with DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen in 2007.

Rebecca is currently a Notary Public for the State of Vermont. She has recently completed her DeWils Cabinetry training and continues to strive to learn as much as possible about new and upcoming Kitchen & Bath products. Rebecca manages the DreamMaker Team which consists of 6 full-time in-house employees: 2 Sales/Design Consultants, 1 Lead Carpenter, 1 Bath & Kitchen Technician, the Office Manager and the Financial Controller. She currently resides in Essex Junction and actively enjoys snowboarding, skeet shooting and boating on the lake.

 

Erika Couture, Design/Sales Consultant

Erika grew up on Long Island. She moved to Vermont in 1979 to attend UVM with a double major in elementary and special education. She met her husband, Joe, while working a summer job at the ferry company. After graduating from UVM, Erika took a position as a classroom teacher at the Baird Center in Burlington, VT.

Erika’s knowledge of home construction began when she helped build a family vacation cabin on the coast of Maine. She furthered this education when she and Joe built their Colchester home themselves with lumber cleared from their property. Erika went on to pursue a masters degree in consulting teaching and worked as a consulting teacher at Winooski Middle and High school. When their third child was born, Erika left Winooski to raise the children. She spent several years working as a substitute teacher before beginning her career as a designer.

In 2001 Erika took a job as a kitchen and bath designer at a local showroom. She spent 2 years pursuing education with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) to sit for the Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer Certification (AKBD) exam in September 2006. Erika began working as a designer for DreamMaker in 2005. Erika and Joe are still in their Colchester home where she loves to garden and spend time with family. She enjoys walking local trails, reading and, traveling when possible. She is currently pursuing education to bring her NKBA certification to the next level.

 

Daren McKenzie, Lead Bath & Kitchen Technician

Born and raised in South Burlington, VT and graduating from South Burlington High School in 1981, Daren joined the USAF immediately after school. He later transferred to the Vermont Air National Guard and gave 22 years military service to his country. He retired from the Vermont Air National Guard in Jan. of 2003 as an Egress Systems specialist, after doing a one year tour of active duty as part of Operation Noble Eagle with the 158th Fighter Wing, defending our country after the vicious attacks of 9/11/2001.

Daren brings 16 years experience in the manufacturing sector, where he worked for Bombardier Transportation Inc., a world leader in the transportation industry, where he was instrumental in the successful completion of contracts to build commuter railcars for customers such as, New York City Transit authority, New Jersey Transit, Amtrak, Seattle Transit, Walt Disney Co. He started out there as a production employee and was quickly promoted to a technician in the manufacturing engineering dept. There he continued to excel and was promoted to Supervisor, Technical Services (mechanical). He also took temporary assignments as Production Supervisor twice to bring his expertise directly to the production floor.

Needing a change, Daren started a construction company of his own in 2002 and for three years he managed the day to day operations of a small company, building custom homes, additions, remodeling and modular home construction. Daren joined the DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen team in Feb. 2005 and was promoted to Lead Technician in the fall of that year.

 

Kyle Gabaree, Bath & Kitchen Technician

Kyle was born and raised in Richmond, Vermont and currently resides in Fletcher, Vermont with his fiancee, Anna. Kyle and Anna will be married this coming Spring of 2008. Kyle enjoys snowboarding, hunting and fishing in his free time. Kyle spent 2 years at Essex Tech in Building Trades. He has completed courses including: CAD and Drafting. Kyle has over 5 years of framing and centerline construction experience. He spent 8 months working for Prime Handyman Services and transitioned to DreamMaker in February of 2007. Kyle actively strives to learn as much about the Construction trade as possible.

 

Andrew Olfene, Controller

Andrew graduated from Champlain College in May of 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and quickly got his start as a bookkeeper for a local accounting firm. Along with bookkeeping skills he also has experience in preparing personal and business tax returns. His experience also includes an internship with Bancnorth Investment Group where he gained knowledge in personal finance as well. He grew up on the coast of Maine as an active kid playing baseball, football, hockey, golf, skateboarding and snowboarding. He enjoys boating and fishing as well. His strong passion for winter sports made the Burlington area an ideal location for him to earn an education. Andrew enjoyed everything Vermont had to offer and decided to stay in the area after his graduation.
